Duarte Carrasco tem 16 anos e foi selecionado pela Prestige Talent LA, que esteve em digressão mundial há procura de novos talentos em várias áreas, como a de atores, modelos, cantores e bailarinos. Duarte teve que fazer inúmeros castings em Portugal, e em breve estará na California, a perseguir o seu grande sonho de ser ator e modelo.

Toca piano e está no coro do Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, e também tem aulas de guitarra. É excelente aluno e para o ano, em princípio estará em Washington através da AFS.

Portugal está cheio de pessoas talentosas, cheio de Salvadores Sobral antes de ter ganho o Festival Eurovisão da Canção. É necessário e urgente dar-lhes atenção!

O que sentiste quando percebeste que tinhas sido selecionado e que vais para Los Angeles?

Ao princípio nem queria acreditar! Quando me ligaram eu não estava em casa. Demorei um bocado a perceber do que é que se tratava o telefonema. Ainda pior, a pessoa que estava do outro lado falava em inglês o que dificultou, mas lá percebi do que se tratava e só quando desliguei o telefonema e comecei a assimilar todas as palavras e a traduzir outras é que comecei a compreender a dimensão da minha sorte! Depois claro, ao receber um email a confirmar tudo isto é que dei por mim a chorar de alegria.

Quais as tuas expectativas?

Eu, que por natureza sou muito inseguro, estou acostumado a ter as expectativas o mais baixo possível, sobretudo para evitar desilusões. No entanto, tratando-se desta experiência, percebi que com essa atitude não iria chegar a lado nenhum e agora estou com elevadíssimas expectativas e sinto que esta vai ser a oportunidade da minha vida – vai ser tudo ou nada!

Queres ser ator, mas e a música? Também é uma paixão?

Sim, a música sempre esteve no meu coração, mas mais como um suporte para a carreira de ator. Nada muito profissional. Na verdade, comecei a ter aulas de música, porque andava a participar num musical infantil, encenado pelo famoso ator, Ricardo Carriço, “A Mãe Natureza”, e me apercebi de que devia começar a investir nesta área para futuros projetos. Inscrevi-me, aos 12 anos, em aulas de piano, e no ano seguinte decidi que era importante aprender outro instrumento “menos fixo” por assim dizer, uma vez que gostaria de poder transportar a música comigo e não o contrário, pelo que passei a ter, ao mesmo tempo, aulas de guitarra. Aos 14 anos, já a começar a dominar o piano e com algumas bases de guitarra, decidi inscrever-me no Conservatório. Com um grau de aprendizagem mais elevado, passei a ter, para além da disciplina obrigatória de instrumento, formação musical e coro, uma disciplina muito engraçada, porque me ajuda a desenvolver esta paixão com uma série de alunos da minha idade, passando assim de uma aprendizagem individual para uma coletiva, onde desenvolvi inclusive várias amizades. Agora, a música faz parte do meu dia-a-dia e espero que me ajude realmente na carreira de ator.

Quem são os atores que gostavas mesmo de conhecer, e quais as séries em que gostavas de participar?

Hum… esta pergunta é um bocado mais difícil de responder, uma vez que adoraria conhecer tantos atores. Lembrei-me agora de uma história engraçada… uma vez, numa viagem a Londres que fiz em família, em 2015, fomos visitar o famosíssimo museu de figuras de cera Madame Tussauds, onde acabei por tirar fotografias com imensas celebridades, tais como Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie e Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger e Morgan Freeman. E lembro-me perfeitamente de quando sair dizer aos meus pais: “Um dia ainda irei conhecer pessoalmente todos estes atores sem ser em cera” (risos). Os meus pais claro que se riram na altura, mas um dia, quem sabe? Gosto de pensar que tudo é possível. Em relação às séries em que gostaria de participar a resposta é muito clara – Disney Channel. Já há muitos anos que acompanho este canal, e de alguma forma sinto que a minha personalidade em termos de representação se assemelha muito aos critérios dos atores que participam em tais séries – a comédia infantil. Todos os que me conhecem, mais como ator do que como amigo, dizem sempre que me conseguiriam perfeitamente imaginar numa série da Disney, pelo meu caráter e sarcasmo cómicos. No futuro quem sabe aonde conseguirei chegar, mas neste momento todas as minhas energias estão viradas para séries deste género.

E cinema? Diz-me 3 filmes que te levaram a querer perseguir esta carreira.

Para além de adorar ver filmes e séries, também gosto muito de ler livros. Para mim, seria uma honra poder participar num filme que tivesse um livro de inspiração. Como fã de “Harry Potter”, “Saga Twilight” e “Hunger Games”, sei como se muda tanto de um livro para um filme, principalmente devido aos enormes cortes de partes que têm de ser feitos na produção para que o filme não demore tanto tempo, e sei a tão grande influência que um determinado ator tem para que a personagem se mantenha fiel aos livros. Por isso, filmes como estes fazem-me querer perseguir esta carreira só para um dia ter a oportunidade de participar neste tipo de filmes.

Para o ano vais estar a viver em Washington, se o presidente dos EUA te desse um desejo o que propunhas para aquele país?

Pertencendo eu ao mundo das artes, o que eu lhe propunha era que expandissem cada vez mais este país e que o tornasse mais acessível àqueles que não têm meios económicos para poderem cá entrar. Para que ser artista bastasse querer e não poder.

Quem é a pessoa que mais admiras no mundo?

Não a pessoa, mas sim o grupo de pessoas que mais admiro no mundo é a minha família. Sem ela eu não seria nada. Embora seja o único membro artístico na família, todos sempre concordaram com as minhas decisões e me apoiaram em todos os desejos. Não podia estar mais orgulhoso da família que tenho.

O que é que gostavas de fazer que ainda não fizeste?

Sem dúvida que dobrar filmes e séries. Aliás, houve uma altura que até surgiu a oportunidade de participar nas dobragens de um projeto, mas acontece que mesmo nessa altura a minha voz começou a mudar e acabei por perder a oportunidade de entrar neste ramo artístico. Mas é algo que sempre admirei e que tenciono um dia ainda experimentar, nem que seja através de um dos muitos workshops em que participo, porque acho que vale mesmo a pena para complementar com os outros ramos da arte.

Diz-nos uma coisa sobre ti que ninguém saiba?

Uau! Apanharam-me um pouco de surpresa… bem, deixem-me pensar… já sei! Eu adoro testar os meus limites, fazendo desafios/apostas comigo próprio. Por exemplo, eu tenho um cão – o Rock (sim, até o cão tem um nome ligado à música) – e dia sim, dia não, tenho de ser eu a passeá-lo. Por isso, às vezes, para a tarefa ser mais desafiante, eu faço uma aposta comigo de que consigo ir passeá-lo de pijama ou mascarado! Sim… eu sei que parece uma loucura, mas a verdade é que me divirto imenso quando vejo as reações das pessoas quando passam por mim na rua e isso faz do meu dia algo muito mais estimulante. Além disso, quem sabe, posso vir a ter de fazer algo do género em alguma peça de teatro ou em alguma série e assim já estarei mais bem preparado psicologicamente!

Qual o teu maior desejo?

O meu maior desejo é ter uma vida feliz, com família, bons amigos, algum dinheiro, e, sobretudo, a fazer o que eu goste, que neste momento é começar uma carreira como artista! Espero mesmo que esta experiência me corra bem.

Duarte Carrasco is 16 years old and was selected by Prestige Talent LA, that has been on a world tour looking for new talent in various areas such as actors, models, singers and dancers. Duarte did numerous castings in Portugal, and soon he will be in California, to pursue his great dream of being an actor and model. He plays piano and is in the choir of the National Conservatory Music School, and he also has guitar lessons. He is an excellent student and next year, will be in Washington through AFS.

Portugal is full of talented people, full of Salvadores Sobral before winning the Eurovision Song Contest. It is necessary and urgent to give them attention!

What did you feel when you realized that you had been selected and that you were going to Los Angeles?

At first I didn't want to believe! When they called me I wasn't home. It took me a while to realize what the call was about. Even worse, the person on the other side spoke in English which made it difficult for me to undesntand, but then I realized what it was about, and it was only when I hung up the phone and began to assimilate all the words and translate others that I began to understand the dimension of my luck!

What are your expectations?

I am a very insecure person by nature, and I am accustomed to having the expectations as low as possible, mainly to avoid delusions. However, with this experience, I realized that with this attitude I would not go anywhere and now I am with very high expectations and I feel that this will be the opportunity of my life - it will be all or nothing!

You want to be an actor, but what about music? Is it also a passion?

Yes, the music has always been in my heart, but more as a support for the career of actor. Nothing very professional. In fact, I started to take music classes because I was participating in a children's musical, staged by the famous actor, Ricardo Carriço, "Mother Nature", and I realized that I should start investing in this area for future projects. I enrolled at age 12 in piano lessons, and the following year I decided that it was important to learn another "less fixed" instrument so to speak, since I would like to be able to carry the music with me and not the other way around, To have, at the same time, guitar lessons. At age 14, already starting to master the piano and with some guitar bases, I decided to enroll in the Conservatory. With a higher degree of learning, I had, besides the compulsory discipline of instrument, musical training and choir, a very funny discipline, because it helps me to develop this passion with a series of students of my age, passing from a Individual learning for a collective, where I developed even several friendships. Now, music is part of my day-to-day life and I hope it really helps me in acting.

Who are the actors you would really like to meet, and which series would you like to attend?

Um ... this question is a bit harder to answer since I would love to meet so many actors. I remembered now a funny story ... once, on a trip to London that I made with my family in 2015, we went to visit the famous wax museum Madame Tussauds, where I ended up taking pictures with huge celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Morgan Freeman. And I remember perfectly when I went out to say to my parents: "One day I will still know all these actors in person without being in wax" (laughs). My parents of course laughed at the time, but one day, who knows? I like to think that anything is possible. In relation to the series in which I would like to participate the answer is very clear - Disney Channel. I have been following this channel for many years, and somehow feel that my personality in terms of representation closely resembles the criteria of the actors who participate in such series - children's comedy. Everyone who knows me, more as an actor than a friend, always says that they could perfectly well imagine me in a Disney series, because of my comic character and sarcasm. In the future who knows where I will get, but at this moment all my energies are turned to series of this kind.

And cinema? Tell me 3 movies that made you want to pursue this career.

Besides loving watching movies and series, I also really enjoy reading books. For me, it would be an honor to be able to participate in a movie that had a book of inspiration. As a fan of "Harry Potter," "Twilight Saga," and "Hunger Games," I know how to move so much from a book to a movie, mainly because of the huge cuts of parts that have to be made in the production so the movie does not take long So much time, and I know the great influence that a certain actor has for the character to remain faithful to the books. So movies like these make me want to pursue this career just to one day have the opportunity to participate in this type of movies.

For the year will you be living in Washington, if the US president gave you a wish what you proposed for that country?

Belonging to the world of the arts, what I would proposed to do, is to expand this country more and more and make it more accessible to those who do not have the financial means to enter. So that being an artist is enough to want and not be able to.

Who is the person you most admire in the world?

Not the person, but the group of people I admire the most in the world is my family. Without them I would be nothing. Although I am the only artistic member in the family, everyone has always agreed to my decisions and supported me with every wish. I could not be prouder of the family I have.

What would you like to do that you have not done yet?

Doubtless dubbed films and series. In fact, there was a time that I had the opportunity to participate in the dubbing of a project, but it happened that my voice began to change and I ended up missing the opportunity to enter this artistic branch. But it is something that I have always admired and that I intend to one day still experience, even if it is through one of the many workshops I participate in, because I think it is worthwhile to complement with the other branches of art.

Tell us something about yourself that nobody knows?

Wow! They caught me a little by surprise ... well, let me think ... I know! I love testing my limits by making challenges / betting with myself. For example, I have a dog - Rock (yes, even the dog has a name attached to music) - and every other day, I have to be walking him. So sometimes, for the task to be more challenging, I make a bet with me that I can go walk him in pijamas or masquerade! Yes ... I know it sounds crazy, but the truth is that I have a lot of fun when I see the reactions of people when they pass me on the street and that makes my day something much more stimulating. Also, who knows, I may have to do something like that in some play or some series and I'll be better prepared psychologically!

What is your greatest desire?

My biggest wish is to have a happy life, with family, good friends, some money, and above all to do what I like, that at this moment is to start a career as an artist! I really hope this experience goes well for me. Thank you so much for everything and see you next time!
